Base stops sending presses to the app after a Wi-Fi or internet interruption

Section titled “Base stops sending presses to the app after a Wi-Fi or internet interruption”
  • Status: Active
  • Date: 2026-10-14

Cause

A bug in the current Base firmware. A Base that is kept plugged into power can lose its connection to FluentPet after a Wi-Fi or internet interruption (for example a router restart) and not reconnect on its own.

Signs of this issue:

  • Words still play through the Base when Buttons are pressed.
  • The app shows the Base as offline or last seen days ago.
  • No new Button presses appear in the app.

Solution

  1. Unplug the Base from power.
  2. Wait about 10 seconds.
  3. Plug the Base back in.

The Base reconnects within a couple of minutes. Presses made while it was offline then appear in the app with their original times.

You do not need a factory reset, to re-link Buttons or to reinstall the app. A factory reset also erases the presses stored on the Base.

Notes

  • The issue can happen again after the next connection interruption until the fix is released.
  • A Base used on battery (charged now and then rather than left plugged in) is not affected.
  • A fix is in progress and will arrive as a Base firmware update. Reconnect the Base (unplug it and plug it back in as above) to receive it.
  • This is a different issue from Words do not play through Base when plugged in: here words still play, but presses do not reach the app.

Connect Button battery drains faster when Base is off or out of range

Section titled “Connect Button battery drains faster when Base is off or out of range”
  • Status: Active
  • Date: 2025-01-14

Cause

The battery in a Connect Button can drain faster if the Button is unused for long periods and the Base it is linked to is turned off, out of range or has an empty battery.

Solution

If you store your Connect system or do not use it for a long time (for example several months):

  • Remove the batteries from the Buttons to prevent battery drain or leakage.
  • Or use battery pull tabs to disconnect the batteries.

Words do not play through Base when plugged in

Section titled “Words do not play through Base when plugged in”
  • Status: Active
  • Date: 2024-10

Cause

A Base firmware bug that affects audio playback when the Base is plugged into power.

Solution

Use the Base unplugged. The internal battery lasts 2+ weeks on a full charge.

Wi-Fi networks not appearing during Base onboarding

Section titled “Wi-Fi networks not appearing during Base onboarding”
  • Status: Active
  • Date: 2024-05-03

Cause

The Amazon Shopper Panel app uses a custom DNS or VPN configuration that prevents the phone from communicating with the Base while the phone is connected to the Base’s local network.

Solution

  • Temporarily remove the Amazon Shopper Panel app during setup.
  • Reinstall it after setup.

Notes

  • Turning off ad verification in the Amazon Shopper Panel app may also resolve the issue.
  • Check that no other custom DNS configuration is active on your phone.
  • Status: Active
  • Date: 2023-08-13

Cause

Unknown.

Solution

  1. Check that the Button lights blue when pressed.
  2. Try re-linking the Button with the Base.
  3. Plug the Base into power and unplug it again.
  4. Press the Base Button once.
  5. Wait 3 seconds.
  6. Double-click the Base Button to cancel.

If the Button still plays no sound, contact FluentPet support from Settings > Contact support in the app, or at info@fluent.pet.

Cause

A Base firmware bug.

  • Status: Fixed
  • Date: 2024-12-12

Cause

A bug in app version 0.4.40 for iOS caused setup failures. During setup the app could display “Connection failed” and “We failed to connect to your Base.”

Solution

Temporary workarounds were:

  • Set up the Base using an Android device.
  • Use a previous app version.

The issue was fixed in app version 0.4.41.

  • Status: Fixed
  • Date: 2024-10

Cause

An app bug caused notifications to be delivered twice.

Solution

Resolved in a later app update.

  • Status: Fixed
  • Date: 2024-09-16

Cause

Notifications failed on some Android 14 devices across several models, including:

  • Pixel 7 Pro
  • Pixel 7a
  • Motorola Razr+ (2023)

The issue appeared to be specific to Android 14 and also affected notifications outside the FluentPet app.

Solution

Resolved in a later app update.

Base onboarding fails on Android during registration

Section titled “Base onboarding fails on Android during registration”
  • Status: Fixed
  • Date: 2024-08-02

Cause

A race condition in the app caused two simultaneous requests to the Base. If one request was processed before the other, the Base failed to register with FluentPet servers.

Solution

Fixed in app version 0.4.37 and later. Before the fix, retrying setup usually resolved the issue.

  • Status: Fixed
  • Date: 2024-01-05

Cause

A backend bug. Sorting buttons by Most used could take several seconds or minutes for accounts with thousands of button presses.

Solution

Fixed in a newer backend version. The temporary workaround was to change the sorting to A-Z, because the app remembers the sorting preference between sessions.

Section titled “Button presses appear in the app after 1 to 3 days”
  • Status: Fixed
  • Date: 2023-07-08

Cause

A Base firmware issue that affected event synchronization.

Solution

Resolved in a newer Base firmware update.
