Connect Base: Reset to factory settings
A factory reset erases all settings, linked Buttons and sounds on your Connect Base.
Reset your Base when it changes owners, so your recorded sounds and settings are removed from it. In rare cases, FluentPet support may ask you to reset your Base to fix a problem, for example when the wrong sound plays when you press a Button.
What a reset erases
Section titled “What a reset erases”A factory reset returns the Base to its factory settings. The Base forgets all linked Buttons and the Wi-Fi details it uses to connect to the internet. After the reset, you add the Base to your household again and re-link your Buttons.
Your Button press history, Button data and recorded words are kept safely on the FluentPet servers. A factory reset does not erase them, and they come back after the reset.
If the Base is not changing owners, you do not need to remove the Base or the Buttons in the app.
Reset the Base
Section titled “Reset the Base”Before you start, make sure the Base is idle. The LED is off, or shows the green charging light while the Base is plugged in. The Base is not in Wi-Fi mode, setup mode, travel mode or the low-battery state, and no Button is being linked. If the Base is in travel mode, press the Base Button once to leave it.
- Press the Base Button on the bottom of the Base five times in a row, less than half a second apart. Keep holding the fifth press.
- As soon as the fifth press starts, the LED blinks cyan quickly for about 2 seconds. This is the warning. Keep holding.
- After 10 seconds of holding, the LED blinks cyan quickly again and the Base plays the reset sound. Release the Base Button now.
The Base erases its Wi-Fi settings, linked Buttons and data, then goes to sleep.
If you keep holding for more than 15 seconds, the Base also enters travel mode, and you need to press the Base Button once to wake it.
Add the Base to your household again
Section titled “Add the Base to your household again”If the Base is not changing owners, add it again:
- In the app, tap Hardware, then tap + and Add Base.
- Follow the steps in Connect Base: Set up your Base in the app.
- After the Base connects to your Wi-Fi network, tap Skip for now on Ready to add buttons?.
Re-link your Buttons
Section titled “Re-link your Buttons”Re-link each Button to the Base:
- Make sure the Base LED is off.
- Insert the linking pin into the link hole until you feel a light click. The linking pin is the small pin that comes inserted in the Button’s paper instructions, and the link hole is on the bottom of the Button. The Button LED breathes cyan for up to 2 minutes.
- Press the Base Button once. The Base LED breathes blue while the Base connects to Wi-Fi and turns solid blue once connected. It then breathes cyan while the Base connects to the FluentPet servers and turns solid cyan once connected. The Base accepts the Button during this whole sequence.
- Listen for three chimes (“bo-be-beep”) that confirm the link. The Button and the Base both show solid cyan for 5 seconds.
After a Button is linked, the Base checks with the FluentPet servers whether a sound is already recorded for it. If so, the Base downloads the sound and the Button is ready. The app still notifies you that a new Button is linked, but you do not need to record the sound again.
For more on re-linking, including several Buttons at once, see Connect Buttons: Re-link a Button to its Base. If a Button still does not work, see Re-link a Button.
